GC Selects Radio Show 10/26
Episode #4 is out of the way and definitely improving on the look on how I’m promoting songs that I play. This was a shorter show than the others because I actually woke up 10 minutes before my show, rushed to the studio, and threw together a mix live (I usually have 10 tracks ready then improvise/take requests from there). Also enjoy the suggestions for Halloween tracks, wish I used more but requests came in :P. Usher Feat. Pitbull & Hyper Crush – Dj Got Us Fallin In Love Again (HYPER CRUSH REMIX)
A lot of really good remixes are coming out for this song, and this adds to the list. Hyper Crush adds their usual high-pitch technoish vibe, while adding some pretty sick bass sections. Really liking the dubstep section of this song as well, did not know Hyper Crush does dub. This definitely ties Jump Smokers as my favorite remix of this song. Daft Punk Remixes
Got in the mood yesterday to look up some Daft Punk remixes, and listen to oldies. Here is a collection of the creme de la creme (that’s a saying right?) I ordered them from my favorite (and most likely to be used) to least favorite.
Digital Love (Bart B More & Christian Luke Bootleg)
Would’ve never considered playing Digital Love at any gig until this remix was released. This is my favorite remix because it isn’t the cliche Daft Punk song to play at peak time, it never fails to surprise a lot of Daft Punk enthusiasts that they are dancing to this song in the club.
Harder Better Faster Stronger (Diplo Work is Never Over Remix)
This song can be played/mashed with physically anything (trust me), which makes it my second favorite. This is always my go to remix if I need to pick things up, change genres, change tempo, or any of the other million things that come up while djing.
High Life (DJ THB Remix)
This remix is well over a year old and I have no idea how it isn’t widely known as a great remix, especially considering it’s the only High Life remix that I know of that doesn’t sound horrible.
Aerodynamic (Aviel Brant Remix)
Already posted about this song before, so I will save my breathe.
Buy It Use It (Diplo Remix Instrumental)
Not as complex of a remix as Harder, Better for Diplo, but non the less it still is a solid remix. I like how he incorporated Busta Rhymes at some parts, I will most likely be making a bootleg that adds more vocals from Busta soon.
Fired From Work (Diplo Remix)
I like this remix, but I would never personally play it unless if this was following up after the Harder, Better remix mentioned above.
One More Time (The House Moguls 2007 Remix)
JFK made a dirty edit to this song that incorporates less of the House Moguls chorus section. Yet I cannot find the edit anywhere, definitely making my own edit that will be similar soon.
Crescendolls (Laidback Luke Remix)
Laidback Luke remixes everything…enough said
Stronger After All (People Revolution Remix)
This remix definitely has its moments but at times it can sound a bit corny.
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (Deadmau5 Remix) (Short Edit)
Apparently people really like this remix, I personally would never play it at a gig, but I do catch myself listening to it occasionally
Sean Kingston feat. Nicki Minaj – Letting Go (Dutty Dutty) (Various Mixes)
Really liking both versions of this song, the original will definitely tear up urban dance floors while Jump Smokers will rock the house clubs. I think I’m personally favoring the Jump Smokers remix, because they bring their typical build-up into instrumental chorus.
Diplo & Don Diablo – Make You Pop (Original Mix)
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SONG FOREVER. Ever since I heard Don Diablo play this live I’ve been waiting. There was the Don Diablo remix leak but it definitely wasn’t on the same level. Of course a song done by Diplo is extremely beat heavy, rather than relying on synths to carry the song, and this does not disappoint. This dance song branches out into the category (haha not sure how to categorize it) that Bart Bmore’s Brap is in. This song is definitely going to get a ton of remixes due to its fairly catchy “Make You Pop”
Justin Timberlake – Sexy Back (Randy Boyers Dirty Sex Mix)

Great remix by a local DJ Randy Boyer, met this guy a couple weeks ago and did not realize I actually had a track by him. Which really surprised me considering he is a trance DJ, while this remix is definitely not trance. Great fun remix to make the throwback lovers smile. Be sure to check out Randy Boyers at Shish Lounge (if you happen to be in Hartford, CT), and check out his website which he just recently updated.
Flo Rida feat. David Guetta – Club Can’t Handle Me (Various Mixes)
I’m going to be honest like how I usually am…I hated the original song. BUT finally there are some really good remixes of the song being released now, even David Guetta redeems himself with his usual “I will make a shitty song for the pop crowd, then fix it on F*** Me I’m Famous” trick. It didn’t work last time for his Commander remix but it definitely worked for this song. Sydney Samson also delivers his usual high pitch dutch sound over 6 minutes, I’m liking how he used Flo-Rida as a hype over the chorus rather than implementing the original chorus. Felguk delivers possibly the most club friendly version out of the three because it implements a lot more vocals, not my favorite, but it is still better than the original. I also posted my Short/Radio edit of David Guetta’s version available to download.

Swizz samples Daft Punk I believe. Not a huge fan of Gucci Mane but this is a pretty good song.

Jermaine Dupri…wtf? Why does he randomly come out with club hits once a year?
Kaskade & Deadmau5 – Move For Me (Beat Thrillerz Radio Mix)
Love the original version to this song…this doesn’t top it, but it’s not a bad substitute.

Prepare to hear this on the radio….a lot

If you must listen to Soulja Boy, this makes it bearable.

Man, I’ve been sleeping to let this one slip by. This song was leaked a WHILE back (about 2 months), and recently was officially released about 3 weeks ago. If you don’t like Beetroots and their punk-dance-electro ways this will not change your mind about them…for the rest of you that love these guys unique style of DJing and even more impressive live band then you will like these guys even more. This song is easily the Beetroots next “Warp” rager song, this will definitely flip the room upside-down at any rave or party (unless if your partying with douchebags that listen to only Lil Wayne…then your room may not flip).
Dirt Nasty ft. LMFAO – I Can’t Dance

FUCK YEAH GC EXCLUSIVE…sorry to be a stereotypical college kid, but this is going to be one of the jams of this fall/winter on campuses. LMFAO brings a verse, while Dirty Nasty does the rest. Definitely a great song to listen to in and out of a party, the lyrics are actually pretty funny…but what sets this song apart is how it uses the Jewish Mazel Tov…AS THE HOOK. Instantly turns this into a very fun song to listen to. What is even crazier is how the song turns from a fun song, into a badass semi-deep house track at the end. After hearing that section I definitely realized there’s either going to be a: A.) A lot of remixes to this song, or B.) An extended mix is definitely going to be released. Why? because the end section is only about 45 seconds long…it easily could’ve carried like that for another chorus, even if the beat was riding by itself. At the moment I can only get a hold of 128kbps, I’ll update with a 320 asap

Best version of this song I’ve heard so far, of course Jump Smokers killed it. I thought the original version was ok, and most of the remixes were solid…but none of them really stood out or changed the song enough. This one perfectly adds electro to Usher’s already upbeat song, they even slightly changed the rhythm of Usher to add a different feel to the song. Check it out.
Pendulum – The Island
Never was a fan of Pendulum until this song, it’s definitely forcing me to listen to the rest of the album. This is a great song. Best part is that both parts of the song are completely different songs…but they have the same theme. The first part is a Trance-progressive song with Pendulum singing alongside it. Part 2, COMPLETELY different song. This version is more of a hardcore-electro song with practically no vocals. I included both parts and an edit I made that perfect transfers from 1 part to the next…definitely useful for those that has an audio player that has a delay between songs.

Freemasons feat. Wynter Gordon – Believer
Great new track from both Freemasons and Wynter Gordon. Definitely going to be a hit in the trance genre. Wynter Gordon definitely earned a spot in new woman vocalist for DJs, she is starting to appear in everything. Check out the extended and radio versions.
Jump Smokers – Kings of the Dancefloor
I’m back after a long weekend clubbing, promoting, and setting up my new youtube page. LETS GET MO MUSIC MO MONDAYS STARTED…Jump Smokers new album King of the Dancefloor is everything you would expect from these artists. If you like Hyper Crush and LMFAO then you will really like Jump Smokers. Best way to describe them is that they are Hyper Crush but slight less pop and it’s more club-playable. This album also has a bunch of never released tracks, so it’s not the same songs you’ve been listening to for months now. This album also has a ton of appearances from guys such as Pitbull, Honorebel, Twista, and Baby Bash to name a few. Below are a few of my favorites out of the new songs.
Drunk Girls In The Club
Definitely the most club-playable song on this album (besides the already released singles). It’s basically an anthem, and the beat works perfectly with anything you’ve heard in the club. It also works great considering everyone doesn’t know about Jump Smokers, it’s a good enough song that you can enjoy it without ever hearing it before
Faded
Another great song on the album. Really liking the chorus and break in this song, typical Jump Smoker’s style at those points. If the verses sounded closer to those sections this would easily be my favorite song on the album.
Slow Jam Mixtape (ft. Twista)
Pretty good song featuring Twista. I’m also surprised to hear Jump Smokers
Katy Perry Ft. Snoop Dogg Vs. Van Halen – California Gurls Vs. Jump (DJ’s From Mars Bootleg Remix)
Edit: GC EXCLUSIVE, well sort of…most other sites have had this song up for a couple days at 128kbps. I have the 320 :P. I promise that this will be the last post of California Gurls on my site. DJs from Mars clearly have been doing work for this past year. Is it just me or do these guys always have a great video to go along with their remixes? If you haven’t already make sure you vote for these guys for this years DJ Mag top 100. They definitely earned a spot in my book.
Of course I have a post from one of my favorite DJs, DJs From Mars. This time they did it again with California Gurls, but they did their usual mashup style, but this time with Van Halen. This is a great remix and so far is the only California Gurls remix that I actually enjoy. Gotta love the bootleg videos they make for all their remixes too. Enjoy because the invasion is beginning
Tiesto ft. Nelly Furtado – Who Wants to Be Alone (Various Mixes)
No idea why Tiesto did this song at such a slow tempo. Well not slow compared to most artists…but for Tiesto this is a snail crawl. Not the hugest fan of the original version, but it may be one of those songs that grow on me. But the Dimitri Vegas remix is how Tiesto should have made this song.

Sort of have been busy with various things this month so I sort of forgot to promote my mix until now. Weekly Highlight – Example
Example
Clearly Example has some balls for making his stage name Example. And it definitely works because he is a huge example of how artists should be. Example does a lot of things artists thrive to accomplish:
1.) Make hits
2.) Have songs with great lyrics, vocals, and beats
3.) Can make a dance hit, a laid back hit, and a hit of their liking
With his first major album “Won’t Go Quietly” given huge praise from critics everywhere, this UK artist (honestly not even sure what to categorize him) can do almost everything on a track. He raps, sing (not great, but good enough), and MC. I wouldn’t go as far as to say he has surpassed artists such as Kid Cudi (who is in the same field as Example), Kid Cudi’s lyrics are literally things we have never heard a lot of in music…especially rap. But Example definitely can give him some competition if he becomes more popular in the U.S.

This is now OFFICIALLY my favorite version of this song. Chuckie’s remix was great, but this remix definitely packs a lot more punch. Definitely has more of a big room feel to it and more energy to boot.
