Completely forgot to put up a throwback yesterday. So to make up for it I’ll put up two throwbacks. Both of these throwbacks are classic rap chill songs. ENJOY
Cam’ron – Hey Ma
First up is this classic by Cam’ron. I used to call Cam’ron the Dr. Seuss of rappers…why? If you listen to his songs he will say absolutely anything to rhyme…even make up dumb words. Never respected him as a rapper but he did make a solid few hits that I enjoy still to this day. This is obviously one of them.
Akinyele – In Your Mouth
It’s a shame that Akinyele was a one hit wonder, considering how good this song was. But nonetheless this song still gets playtime to this day. Pretty funny how degrading this song is, yet I ONLY here girls blasting this in their cars. “people through out the world, just put it in my mouth, yeah it’s your pick, muthafuckin mouth, what do you wanna lick” haha these lyrics are repeated for the last minute of the song, definitely up there with Eamon for “Ridiculous Songs”
!Throwback! Notorius B.I.G ft. Mase – Mo Money Mo Problems
Yup I brought back this gem, why? Because I’ve been listening to this non-stop for a solid couple weeks now. But this song was definitely the prime of Puff Daddy’s career (damn it’s been a while since that was his name). Obviously this song was a hit due to the fact that this was ALL OF THEM at their prime. Now B.I.G. is dead (can’t get lower than that), Mase became a pastor then tried to come back and sucked, and P.Diddy is filthy rich but not coming out with any hit artists…except for Janelle Monae (keep an eye out for her, she is the future…from the past).
Laidback Luke Bootleg Remix
So far this is the only remix I’ve heard of this song (didn’t really try to look though), and as far as I’m concerned it’s the only one I need. This remix definitely deserves play time in the clubs because it uses a lot of elements from the original song, ups the tempo, adds more ambiance, and still delivers the main vocals (but not as much of course). The only thing this song is missing is B.I.G., yeah…Laidback Luke got some of Mase’s lyrics but completely skipped out on B.I.G. Enjoy this well done remix.
