Episode #4 is out of the way and definitely improving on the look on how I’m promoting songs that I play. This was a shorter show than the others because I actually woke up 10 minutes before my show, rushed to the studio, and threw together a mix live (I usually have 10 tracks ready then improvise/take requests from there). Also enjoy the suggestions for Halloween tracks, wish I used more but requests came in :P. Really liking both versions of this song, the original will definitely tear up urban dance floors while Jump Smokers will rock the house clubs. I think I’m personally favoring the Jump Smokers remix, because they bring their typical build-up into instrumental chorus.

Great remix by a local DJ Randy Boyer, met this guy a couple weeks ago and did not realize I actually had a track by him. Which really surprised me considering he is a trance DJ, while this remix is definitely not trance. Great fun remix to make the throwback lovers smile. Be sure to check out Randy Boyers at Shish Lounge (if you happen to be in Hartford, CT), and check out his website which he just recently updated.
Cee-Lo – Fuck You
Been listening to this song for a few days now, and I can easily say this is going to be a huge hit. Radio stations are going to have to find an edited version of this song soon because it definitely will be requested. The lyrics of course tell a story of a broke guy losing a gold digger, sounds rather cliche but this is a really fun song to listen to. This song isn’t as “out there” as his last hit Crazy was, but it sort sounds like an old school Sesame Street/School House of Rock sort of song…but of course with Cee-Lo saying fuck you throughout the entire piece. Can’t see many people not liking this song.
Flo Rida feat. David Guetta – Club Can’t Handle Me (Various Mixes)
I’m going to be honest like how I usually am…I hated the original song. BUT finally there are some really good remixes of the song being released now, even David Guetta redeems himself with his usual “I will make a shitty song for the pop crowd, then fix it on F*** Me I’m Famous” trick. It didn’t work last time for his Commander remix but it definitely worked for this song. Sydney Samson also delivers his usual high pitch dutch sound over 6 minutes, I’m liking how he used Flo-Rida as a hype over the chorus rather than implementing the original chorus. Felguk delivers possibly the most club friendly version out of the three because it implements a lot more vocals, not my favorite, but it is still better than the original. I also posted my Short/Radio edit of David Guetta’s version available to download.

FUCK YEAH GC EXCLUSIVE…sorry to be a stereotypical college kid, but this is going to be one of the jams of this fall/winter on campuses. LMFAO brings a verse, while Dirty Nasty does the rest. Definitely a great song to listen to in and out of a party, the lyrics are actually pretty funny…but what sets this song apart is how it uses the Jewish Mazel Tov…AS THE HOOK. Instantly turns this into a very fun song to listen to. What is even crazier is how the song turns from a fun song, into a badass semi-deep house track at the end. After hearing that section I definitely realized there’s either going to be a: A.) A lot of remixes to this song, or B.) An extended mix is definitely going to be released. Why? because the end section is only about 45 seconds long…it easily could’ve carried like that for another chorus, even if the beat was riding by itself. At the moment I can only get a hold of 128kbps, I’ll update with a 320 asap

Best version of this song I’ve heard so far, of course Jump Smokers killed it. I thought the original version was ok, and most of the remixes were solid…but none of them really stood out or changed the song enough. This one perfectly adds electro to Usher’s already upbeat song, they even slightly changed the rhythm of Usher to add a different feel to the song. Check it out.
Katy Perry Ft. Snoop Dogg Vs. Van Halen – California Gurls Vs. Jump (DJ’s From Mars Bootleg Remix)
Edit: GC EXCLUSIVE, well sort of…most other sites have had this song up for a couple days at 128kbps. I have the 320 :P. I promise that this will be the last post of California Gurls on my site. DJs from Mars clearly have been doing work for this past year. Is it just me or do these guys always have a great video to go along with their remixes? If you haven’t already make sure you vote for these guys for this years DJ Mag top 100. They definitely earned a spot in my book.
Of course I have a post from one of my favorite DJs, DJs From Mars. This time they did it again with California Gurls, but they did their usual mashup style, but this time with Van Halen. This is a great remix and so far is the only California Gurls remix that I actually enjoy. Gotta love the bootleg videos they make for all their remixes too. Enjoy because the invasion is beginning
!Throwback! Nelly Furtado
This throwback is on an entire artist…Nelly Furtado. Had a song ready to go last night as the throwback but I decided to save it (possibly 2 throwbacks this week?). Had the change of heart once I realized most of the songs I posted today included Nelly Furtado, which got me thinking of a few of her classics that I actually still listen to to this day. FIRST OFF
Sacrifice by The Roots ft. Nelly Furtado
This was easily my favorite song a few years back for a looong time. Black Thought unsurprisingly kills it in this song. This was my pump up song before games and when I would wake up…beat wise that’s weird but this song has great lyrics. It almost makes no sense to add this song to the list of Furtado songs, but I like this song that much. Furtado’s role in this song was simply to be the melody in the chorus, they could have got any singer to do that.
Turn Off The Lights by Nelly Furtado
I cannot tell you how much I hated this song and Nelly Furtado when she first came out…I think I was still in middle school. But Furtado honestly grew on me over the years and this is probably tied with Say It Right as my favorite song by her. Probably going to play this song at a gig to open soon.
Say It Right by Nelly Furtado
This was the song that got me to like Nelly Furtado. Up until this song I hated her, and all of her work. I don’t know if I ended up liking this song because Timberland was producing it and I like him, or if it was simply that she grew on me. But this was the song that got me tuned into Furtado.
Travie McCoy feat. Bruno Mars, LMFAO & Gucci Mane – Billionaire (Party Rock Remix)

This is far from your typical Party Rock remix, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good remix. Been waiting for this remix since I heard it on Benzi’s summer radio mix. Surprised to see Gucci Mane on this track but it works well with the revamped beat LMFAO made. This song definitely shows that LMFAO can actually make a rap track rather than sticking with party/dance music.
Tiesto ft. Nelly Furtado – Who Wants to Be Alone (Various Mixes)
No idea why Tiesto did this song at such a slow tempo. Well not slow compared to most artists…but for Tiesto this is a snail crawl. Not the hugest fan of the original version, but it may be one of those songs that grow on me. But the Dimitri Vegas remix is how Tiesto should have made this song.
Nelly Furtado – Fuerte (Various Mixes)
I have no idea how late I am for bringing these remixes up (within the month), but I’m really liking this new song by Furtado. Out of all of these mixes Cajjmere Wray Hot Sweat Mix is definitely the favorite. The name is definitely fitting with the remix. The Hot Sweat mix adds a slight latin feel at a club beat of 128. Also a plus is that these remixes are all in english, which translates well like Shakira’s songs. The other remixes are basically what you would expect from them. The Hot Sweat radio is a radio friendly version. The Twisted Dee Electro-tribe mix is a solid remix as well, it adds a electro sound to the song, while the back beat is tribal drums.

Example
Clearly Example has some balls for making his stage name Example. And it definitely works because he is a huge example of how artists should be. Example does a lot of things artists thrive to accomplish:
1.) Make hits
2.) Have songs with great lyrics, vocals, and beats
3.) Can make a dance hit, a laid back hit, and a hit of their liking
With his first major album “Won’t Go Quietly” given huge praise from critics everywhere, this UK artist (honestly not even sure what to categorize him) can do almost everything on a track. He raps, sing (not great, but good enough), and MC. I wouldn’t go as far as to say he has surpassed artists such as Kid Cudi (who is in the same field as Example), Kid Cudi’s lyrics are literally things we have never heard a lot of in music…especially rap. But Example definitely can give him some competition if he becomes more popular in the U.S.

This is now OFFICIALLY my favorite version of this song. Chuckie’s remix was great, but this remix definitely packs a lot more punch. Definitely has more of a big room feel to it and more energy to boot.

Petedown does it again with one of his Dutch hype remixes. Turns the original song and turns it into dutch house by adding the electro/synth sounds as a hype build up. Definitely a great remix to this song, which doesn’t appear to be getting as much play time as I thought it was (I figured this was going to be the next “Hotel Room”).

I believe this is a GC Select exclusive…only saw this song available on DJ exclusive sites and nothing else. This is a solid remix of OMG, and if it honestly wasn’t for Dirty Freq and Alvaro this would be my favorite remix. I’m liking how this song has been getting a LOT of good remixes. DJ Class adds his typical Bmore club beat to this song and adds himself and Fatman to the track with their own verses and hype. Solid remix if your looking for a new way to play this hit single.
Mohombi Feat. Nelly – Miss Me
Ok, I called it and it’s now official Mohombi is going to be the next big thing. Last time we saw a random artist collab with a U.S. rapper we got Taio Cruz. I can guarantee people will know who this kid is within the next month or two. He really surprised me with his last song Bumpy Ride, and he stays consistent with this RnB song. Was definitely expecting the “island” feel to this song such as his last single, but this is still a really good track. Told ya he is going to be famous :).
