I didn’t do a 100% edit due to me talking on air or taking a call (you can’t hear the conversations though, trying to fix that for the future). Cee-Lo – Fuck You
Been listening to this song for a few days now, and I can easily say this is going to be a huge hit. Radio stations are going to have to find an edited version of this song soon because it definitely will be requested. The lyrics of course tell a story of a broke guy losing a gold digger, sounds rather cliche but this is a really fun song to listen to. This song isn’t as “out there” as his last hit Crazy was, but it sort sounds like an old school Sesame Street/School House of Rock sort of song…but of course with Cee-Lo saying fuck you throughout the entire piece. Can’t see many people not liking this song.

Best version of this song I’ve heard so far, of course Jump Smokers killed it. I thought the original version was ok, and most of the remixes were solid…but none of them really stood out or changed the song enough. This one perfectly adds electro to Usher’s already upbeat song, they even slightly changed the rhythm of Usher to add a different feel to the song. Check it out.
!Throwback! Nelly Furtado
This throwback is on an entire artist…Nelly Furtado. Had a song ready to go last night as the throwback but I decided to save it (possibly 2 throwbacks this week?). Had the change of heart once I realized most of the songs I posted today included Nelly Furtado, which got me thinking of a few of her classics that I actually still listen to to this day. FIRST OFF
Sacrifice by The Roots ft. Nelly Furtado
This was easily my favorite song a few years back for a looong time. Black Thought unsurprisingly kills it in this song. This was my pump up song before games and when I would wake up…beat wise that’s weird but this song has great lyrics. It almost makes no sense to add this song to the list of Furtado songs, but I like this song that much. Furtado’s role in this song was simply to be the melody in the chorus, they could have got any singer to do that.
Turn Off The Lights by Nelly Furtado
I cannot tell you how much I hated this song and Nelly Furtado when she first came out…I think I was still in middle school. But Furtado honestly grew on me over the years and this is probably tied with Say It Right as my favorite song by her. Probably going to play this song at a gig to open soon.
Say It Right by Nelly Furtado
This was the song that got me to like Nelly Furtado. Up until this song I hated her, and all of her work. I don’t know if I ended up liking this song because Timberland was producing it and I like him, or if it was simply that she grew on me. But this was the song that got me tuned into Furtado.
Usher ft Will.I.Am, DJ Class and Fatman Scoop – OMG (DJ Class Remix)

I believe this is a GC Select exclusive…only saw this song available on DJ exclusive sites and nothing else. This is a solid remix of OMG, and if it honestly wasn’t for Dirty Freq and Alvaro this would be my favorite remix. I’m liking how this song has been getting a LOT of good remixes. DJ Class adds his typical Bmore club beat to this song and adds himself and Fatman to the track with their own verses and hype. Solid remix if your looking for a new way to play this hit single.
Janelle Monae – Tightrope (Various Mixes)
Can’t get enough of Janelle Monae’s ability to bring old school soul music back with a pop-ish feel to it. She is definitely going places with this genre of music and we will surely see many of followers. I am posting a couple versions of this song, including the original. Obviously the original is my favorite which is what made her famous. Between the Organized Noize and Hook remixes I can’t decide which one I like more. They both respectfully change the song to match the genre they were going for. Organized Noize brings the original vocals and turns it into a hip-hop track similar to the style of Outkast. While the Hook N Sling & Goodwill Remix is definitely a hybrid of the original and a house track, while using the some of the vocals as ambience. Both are very well put together remixes.
Mohombi Feat. Nelly – Miss Me
Ok, I called it and it’s now official Mohombi is going to be the next big thing. Last time we saw a random artist collab with a U.S. rapper we got Taio Cruz. I can guarantee people will know who this kid is within the next month or two. He really surprised me with his last song Bumpy Ride, and he stays consistent with this RnB song. Was definitely expecting the “island” feel to this song such as his last single, but this is still a really good track. Told ya he is going to be famous :).
John Legend and The Roots ft Common and Melanie Fiona – Wake Up Everybody
I have been a huge fan of every single artist on this track (except Melanie Fiona) for the longest time. Had high expectations for this song and it did not disappoint. Been waiting on the release of this song since I saw the video above, sort of forgot about the track for a little bit but now I got my hands on it. Loving the clash of The Roots meets John Legend, just a shame that Black Thought wasn’t involved in this one.
Weekly Highlight – Bruno Mars
Not many people can cover MJ this well
Bruno Mars is definitely the next big thing in pop music right now. What is great about Bruno is that he is that next pop artist that everyone can like. These artists only come along every few years, off the top of my head the last one was Gym Class Heroes. But what makes Bruno great is that he clearly is in this for the long run. He definitely tries to appeal to a large amount of listeners. His music obviously has the pop feel to it, he has a musical background of RnB, and he plays acoustic guitar. These alone puts him up in the ranks with Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, and John Legend (but still not coming close to Legend). You already knew this kid was going to blow up, I’m just reassuring you. Check out some of his hits and his new single Just The Way You Are (p.s. notice how each of these 3 songs are a completely different sound).

Great song, his next hit, nothing much else to say.
Dance In The Mirror ft. Lloyd
In my opinion this is my favorite song by Bruno. Definitely Bruno’s RnB hit. It’s been a long time since I heard a song with this particular feel to it, probably was some John Legend or Lloyd song from years ago. I’m randomly a big fan of Lloyd, and he definitely adds that mood from his album Street Love to this song. I have no idea how this song isn’t a hit yet.
Count On Me
This song is just simple and nice. Nothing but Bruno, his guitar, and friendship :P.

Long ass title huh? Been listening to this mashup for a couple days now and it’s definitely a very well put together mashup. You can easily tell it has a “feel good” sound to it with the lyrics saying “life will smile for you”, and how it perfectly implements the Kids and Technicolor chords into the song. Definitely a song you can play in front of the folks.

Hands down my favorite remix of this song, never heard of DJ Enferno before hearing this remix but I’m definitely checking him out now. What is so intense about this remix is how he changes this song about 3-4 different times…meaning this easily could have been three different remixes. But what is so cool is that it progressively gets bigger and louder, I’ve never quite heard progressive house played like this. Definitely give this some play time.
